The rare and local Hieracium pentaploideum that is endemic to scree slopes in the An Teallach range in Wester Ross where it was discovered by David Tennant in 1986. It has five sets of chromosomes, hence the name, but this is hardly a feature by which it may be instantly recognised in the field without a microscope, there must be other features that are visible in the field. |
