| A little later in the year a brush of lilac flowers forms at the top of the flower, very similar to our Knapweeds, such as Common Knapweed. |

| The curved white scales eventually flatten and split at the ends and become the colour of brown paper, much as the bottom ones have here. |

| The leaves are glaucous green, and similar to Knapweed leaves in the UK. |
